talkRADIO is a digital radio station in the ownership of the Wireless Group. Despite the only digital distributing, it has 386.000 weekly listeners across the UK.
talkRADIO as its name shows, leaves out music from the programme structure, but instead brings everything under the scope what can be debated, without any topic restriction. In talk RADIO schedule, talk-shows, phone-ins, analyses of viewpoints lead the listeners beyond the ignorance, furthermore the latest international and national news broaden the spectrum of obtainable knowledge.
talkRADIO brings double morning shows on every day of the week. The weekdays start with an early breakfast show from 5am to 6:30am with James Max, and after it Julia Hartley-Brewer takes over the word until 10am. On weekends, Cristo Foufas from 5am to 7am performs the early thought-provoking, and after it, between 7am and 10am begins the breakfast with Penny Smith, who discusses the current news, arts, and gossip.

RAJAR Q2 2019: London and national brands round-up
Zoe Ball has lost more than three quarters of a million listeners to her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show, according to the latest audience research from RAJAR. The show’s reach is down 781,000 quarter-on-quarter to 8.266m for the three months survey period up to the 23rd June 2019. In Q1/19 she had 9.047m listeners; in Q2/2018 Chris Evans reached 9.038m. Radio 2’s audience at breakfast is now the lowest its been since Q3/2010, when Evans was fairly new in the job.More >>

Phil Williams returns with a week on talkRADIO
Former BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Phil Williams has been hired by talkRADIO to host Drive for a week. He’ll be on-air Monday 22nd July to Thursday 25th July from 4pm till 7pm, covering for Eamonn Holmes. His colleague, and talkRADIO breakfast presenter Julia Hartley-Brewer tweeted that he’ll also be live from College Green on Tuesday and Wednesday. Phil left 5 Live in May after 18 years, where he presented the Late Show since 2013. Before 5 Live, Phil worked at BBC Radio 1, GMR in Manchester and XFM London.More >>

George Galloway sacked by talkRADIO over Israel tweet
talkRADIO has terminated George Galloway’s contract following his tweet at the weekend after Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final. Not long after the final whistle on Saturday night, Mr Galloway wrote: “Congratulations to the great people of Liverpool to the memory of the socialist miner Bill Shankley to the fallen 96 to those who fought justice for them and to the Liverpool dockers. RAJAR Q1 2019 – Zoe & Chris plus national and London radio round-up
Chris Evans and Virgin Radio both reached over a million listeners in the first quarter of 2019. The digital station’s audience has almost trebled compared with the last period of 2018 thanks to the arrival of Evans from Radio 2. talkSPORT has begun broadcasts from its new home on the 17th floor of the News UK building at London Bridge, after almost 20 years at Hatfields. News UK is welcoming the talkSPORT 2 team to its building as the station moves out of its home in Hatfields. The station is tweeting video content of the presenters in the new studio from this morning, which is in Southwark overlooking the River Thames, next to The Shard. Virgin Radio is already broadcasting from the News UK HQ, with Chris Evans currently using the future talkRADIO studio ahead of a larger studio being completed for his own show and the rest of the station.More >>

RAJAR Q3 2018: London and national brands update
Nick Grimshaw left the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show with half a million more listeners than a year ago – handing them to Greg James who took over the show halfway through the last quarter. The show now attracts 5.75m listeners (Mon – Fri) and is up 465,000 Year on Year. In London, Capital is back on top with almost 2,100,000 listeners according to Reach in the London commercial radio battle, as Kiss slips back under the 2m listener mark (1,958,000). Magic is in third place (1.5m) whilst Heart comes in 4th (1.4m). But BBC Radio 4 continues to lead the London Reach with 2.4m listeners.More >>

Matthew Wright to do afternoons on talkRADIO
Matthew Wright is joining Wireless station talkRADIO from next week to present the 1-4pm afternoon show, replacing Jamie East. Wright recently finished his daily Channel 5 TV show after 18 years – a slot taken over by Jeremy Vine from today. Matthew is a former Sun and Mirror journalist, and alongside his TV presenting work has done cover presenting on Radio 2 – including for Steve Wright and Jeremy Vine.More >>
